I encountered Go around mid '79 and it fascinated me
ever since. Became 3d around 1985, moved to the Netherlands
in 1989. Although I try to focus on the big picture in real games ('try' - as everyone?!),
i.e. not to forget why, when, where and if at all to fight,
I like combinations more than e.g. fuseki or esp. joseki, where I consider
myself now weak for a three dan.
I can be quite a slow player, non-byoyomi games can be
a nightmare with any allotted time, and I lost several of them very often just because of
time management problems. I enjoy café-house type
games with lots of fun talking.
Didn't play (much) Go for the last five years (work, exams, children;
was less than ten times at the club) and visited (?) only about three tournaments in 14 years. Tried to keep up practising by looking at problems when there is some spare time.
This site is a wonderful site, interactive and keeping track of blind spots.
Adum did so many improvemenrs (downloadability, rudimentary text-search) that this site is worth more and more.
My Go activities include GTL commentaries on Sensei's Library: http://senseis.xmp.net and on http://gtl.jeudego.org (only two until now) , trainer/coach/manager of a Go club "Go4Go" at my workplace (30 paying members, 8-10 present & playing at each session).
