"see variations" .... ?!

Hi,
i am looking at some reviewed games from here, and the reviewers all mentions many times "see variations" ...
What does it mean.. i guess it's to consult some better ways of responding a situation, but where are these???!!!
somewhere in the sgf file? on any web site? books, or what??

Thx for telling, cause i guess that's a major way to learn good game features.

use the "show solution"->"navigate solution" on the left to browse other included variations...
