SmartGo and GoProblems.com

So, I recently bought the SmartGo Pro on the iPhone and after a couple of minutes doing some of the high single digit kyu problems, I noticed that they were very familiar and I soon began to realize that just about all the problems were taken from goproblems.com (I've solved every Go Problem 5k and under). So, I noticed on the SmartGo site that adum gave permission for the problems to be used on the app. Though I might sound a bit arrogant, I really don't think that adum has the right to give permission to give SmartGo rights to many of the problems on the site without telling the people who submitted the problems in the first place. I really don't mind if the go problems I made were placed into the app, though I don't think any of mine are, but it would be nice if on the add problems section, it includes a little info or some sort that said: "Submitted problems might be used for commercial purposes."

you're correct, bleedo -- smartgo includes a set of 2k problems i gave to the author a few years ago. they're also included in the desktop version of smartgo. declaring a use policy on goproblems.com for user-submitted content is something i should have done a long time ago, and i will do that now. thanks for the suggestion.

Great! Oh, and are you sure it's only 2k problems? Because I see problems from the entire spectrum on there.

adum, while it doesn't hurt to have these problems elsewhere (well there's the whole problems from other sources issue here...), i think it'd be nice to make things clearer with something like "other than that the origianl author retains all" bla bla bla... and maybe something about keeping the problems accessible to the wide public on the site for free anyway... (though again, there's the download only for pro users issue here)

this thing is preety important i think to deserve a bold note in the add page and maybe even a news alert.
(especially since maybe people donated problems with different intetions and (reasonable) _expectations_ about hte spirit of the site (maybe even adding to it, the other 2 partner sites spirit, senseis and the ladder) and all before a clear policy was set)

Haha, yes, I did mean 2 kyu, my bad... though you really shouldn't use k to symbolize thousand in a go site :P
