Looking for Editors

Site news and updates.

i am searching for volunteer editors for goproblems.com.

as this great site has grown, it has become too much work for me to personally make sure every problem submitted (including my own!) is properly edited: no faulty problems or missing solution paths. i'm requesting help in this regard. that will free my time to work on making core improvements to goproblems.

an editor needs the following qualifications:
at least 1 Dan in strength
has submitted at least one problem to the site

there's no prescribed or minimum amount of work an editor has to do -- it's purely voluntary. as editors encounter issues with problems, they can go in and edit the SGF. (all edits get logged.)

so if you're interested, please send me an email and talk to me.

after a little reflection, i realized that there can be another type of editor: someone who doesn't change the SGF, but just helps manage the problems as a whole. in other words, this person can check for duplicates, remove problems that are clearly invalid, change problem genres and sub-genres, add problems to specially created groups, and so forth.

this person doesn't need to be a high skill level or have SGF knowledge, just a willingness to help out.

cheers,
adum

I'll be glad to help in anyway I can. I'm not a high Dan or even high kyu player but I see the importance of this site and would be happy to contribute in anyway I can. :)

I'd be willing to help. I could put problems in the sandbox. Add variations suggested by stronger players. Maybe fix some problems abandoned in the sandbox.

2003, 2004, 2005. Watching the dates on these posts is a sad thing.

For editors of the first kind, some dan-level users that come to mind from various useful comments, apart from Spirit and the OP, are Andre Engels, Spica, and Hans, but I see the first is already mod, so maybe you want to mail the other two, if they're not already mods - they might not be checking the forum... Oh, and I remember a tderz as well. Also, ferdi and unkx80 have a lot of problems all over this site, and are both dan, I think (?).

For the second kind... Well, you can probably easily query the db and see who are the most active users. :) (ITT, santa c definitely springs to mind, as does chrise.)

Just a random user's POW. :) I'm not fishing to be a mod of either kind, I am neither strong nor anal about the "group system" which, incidentally, and frankly, I think is quite a mess. WHICH is why it is difficult to be anal about it. Any compulsively anal person would have to be either crazy or unemployed to get involved with a system like that, spanning 3700 entries.

Sorry for saying anal three times.

Four.

willing to modify problems

I would like to be a moderator for this site. This is one of the best Go resources on the internet, and I would like to help out. I am 2 dan AGA, I am fairly active, and I have gone through thousands of the problems. I have already offered many corrections in the comments. I could help out by adding important corrections from the comments, and I could also provide a swift response to new problems (I check them out when they come up on the RSS feed), correcting or removing them to the sandbox when needed. Thanks for providing this resource!
