Kogos policy - add all?

Post by mafutrct »

Is it useful to add all variations found in Kogos? Is that even allowed (communicate with the author)?

It is well known that Kogos contains errors. Should there be a (intentionally unreliable) source "Kogos"?

Should be easy to create "work units" by splitting up the tree, I'd also do that myself and provide workunits to everyone interested until the complete SGF is parsed.

as tempting as it is to add from Kogo's, i don't want us to do that, because of a couple reasons. the first is the errors, as you say. the second is that kogo's itself isn't sourced -- it's taken itself from a few sources, but primarily from Ishida (which itself is primarily taken from Encyclopedia of Joseki, i believe.) if we're going to add the information from kogo's, it's best just to start with Ishida -- that way it can be sourced to a real professional source.
